The Ferrari 488 Pista, McLaren 600LT, or Alfa Romeo 4C are not direct rivals to each other, but this video, featuring two drag races between the trio, perfectly demonstrates just how quick the Ferrari and McLaren are, as well as the difference between a sports car and a supercar.
Until the Ferrari F8 Tributo starts reaching the hands of customers in the coming months, the 488 Pista remains the marque’s flagship, non-hybrid, V8-powered sports car. It is absolutely ferocious and features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that’s good for 711 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, resulting in a sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.85 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.6 seconds, and a 211 mph (340 km/h) top speed.
The Pista featured in this video left the factory painted red but has since been adorned with a stunning purple wrap and contrasting yellow racing stripes.

As for the McLaren 600LT, it sits at the top of the Sports Series family (excluding the 620R) and utilizes a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 592 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. Those figures are well down on the Ferrari but it’s important to remember that the 600LT competes in a supercar class below the Pista. A fairer race would have seen the Pista go head-to-head with a McLaren 720S.
Despite its power deficit, the McLaren is able to stick to the Ferrari like glue during the first race, even though it is eventually overtaken by the Italian. In the second race, the McLaren driver appeared to mess up the launch and gets off the line slower than even the Alfa Romeo.
