The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team will unveil its racer for the 2020 F1 season on February 14.
On the same day, the car will be put through an initial shakedown testing during a private session at the Silverstone circuit in the UK. On February 19, the new Mercedes racer will hit Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during the first day of pre-season testing ahead of the F1 season commencing on March 15 in Melbourne, Australia.
No official details regarding the car have been announced by Mercedes-AMG just yet. However, the team will be under pressure to ensure that it develops a car as successful as its predecessors which have helped Mercedes claim both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships for the past six years.

This year could be a big one for the team’s lead driver Lewis Hamilton. The Briton has six world championships under his belt and if he claims one more, will equal Michael Schumacher’s record. What’s more, with 84 career victories to his name, Hamilton only needs to secure seven more to match Schumacher’s record of 91.
While F1 will undergo a comprehensive overhaul in 2021 with all-new race cars and regulations, there will be some minor changes made this year. For example, all cars will need to feature shark fins that display a driver’s racing number. Pre-season testing has also been reduced from eight days of running to six. Elsewhere, some minor front wing changes have been made and drivers will have greater control over their vehicle’s power output at the start of races.
