The long-awaited Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 is coming and while we don’t yet know exactly when it’ll arrive, details regarding the car have started to surface in recent months.
Citing sources allegedly close to the Z06 project, GM Authority claims that the new car will be a track-focused animal and come outfitted with a rear wing even larger than what the C7 ZR1 sported. This wing could be similar to what the C8.R race car features although it’s claimed it will feature two central uprights.

Powertrain details about the new Corvette Z06 remain unconfirmed but it’s claimed Chevrolet won’t make it supercharged unlike the previous-generation Z06. Instead, the car is expected to receive the road-going version of the C8.R’s 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine that comes complete with a flat-plane crank. Roughly 600 hp is thought to be on the cards, a healthy 110 hp upgrade over the Corvette Stingray and 50 hp down on the C6 Z06.
It is understood that after the new Z06 launches, at least two Corvette hybrid variants will hit the market. One of them is tipped to be dubbed the Corvette E-Ray while the other could be the long-rumored Corvette Zora complete with all-wheel drive, a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and a hybrid system making for upwards of 1000 hp.
It remains to be seen when the first new variants of the mid-engined Corvette will launch but when they do, expect the motoring world to go crazy for them.
