The Porsche 550 Spyder is one of the most desirable and valuable cars ever built by the German automaker and at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas late last year, one particular example really got the crowds talking.
This 550 Spyder comes from S-Klub and is in fact a replica of a 550 that’s been built from the ground-up over a bespoke tubular chassis and adorned with bodywork to beautifully mimic the exterior of a real 550.
Collector’s Dream: Rare Porsche 550A Spyder Sells For $3.7 Million In Italy
Remarkably, the company behind this replica built the vehicle in just four months in the lead-up to the event. Hidden beneath the gorgeous exterior is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Boxer engine from a Subaru WRX that’s been modified to deliver 350 hp on pump gas and 400 hp when running on E85 ethanol. Those figures are made all the more impressive when you consider that the car weighs less than 1,500 lbs (680 kg).
Sending power to the rear wheels is a special four-speed manual transmission. Other awesome aspects of the car include a bespoke titanium exhaust system, stunning copper trim throughout the engine bay, and a frunk filled with hundreds of fake $100 bills. The interior is also particularly spectacular thanks to a host of blue leather parts, a retro three-spoke steering wheel, and a wooden shift lever.
