Renault’s board is having a meeting today in order to approve Luca de Meo as the company’s new CEO, according to the latest reports.
Citing sources with knowledge of the matter and a report from French newspaper Le Figaro, Reuters says that the board meeting has not yet been called as the timing is still confidential. De Meo, however, is expected to be announced as Renault’s new CEO in the next few days, even hours.
Earlier this month, Luca de Meo stepped down from his position as President of SEAT but he will not take up his new post at Renault until closer to July, according to one source.

Luca de Meo’s name has been rumored for the top job at Renault for the past few months, but faced issues with his contract with VW, which included a strict noncompete clause that reportedly had to be negotiated between the two car makers.
Renault ousted Thierry Bollore from the CEO position last October, in a move linked to the French car maker’s decision to get rid of executives associated with Carlos Ghosn in order to restore its relationship with Alliance partner Nissan. Since then, Clotilde Delbos was appointed Renault’s interim CEO.
Luca de Meo will have the difficult task of helping restore faith in the Alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, to guide the French car maker out of one of its more turbulent periods in its recent history.
