Skoda has opened the order books for the Superb iV plug-in hybrid family car in the United Kingdom, where it will arrive in showrooms later this month.
Part of the facelifted iteration of the third-gen, it uses the same powertrain as the latest Volkswagen Passat GTE and, at £31,970 ($41,790/€37,454) for the SE Technology liftback, it is £4,630 ($6,052/€5,424) more affordable than the four-door German model.

For the Superb iV SE L, SportLine Plus and Laurin & Klement, you’re looking at £34,755 ($45,430/€40,717), £38,490 ($50,313/€45,092) and £38,960 ($50,927/€45,643), respectively. The Estate starts at £33,250 ($43,463/€38,953) in the SE Technology trim level and rises to £36,035 ($47,104/€42,216) and £39,770 ($51,986/€46,592) for the SE L and SportLine Plus, while the L&K model will set you back £40,240 ($52,600/€47,142).
Standard features across the range are 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, wireless SmartLink for Apple CarPlay, leather upholstery and heated front seats. Upgrading to the SE L will get you 18-inch wheels, full matrix LED headlights, blind spot detection and an 8-inch infotainment system with Wi-Fi and sat-nav. The SportLine Plus adds front and rear parking sensors, hands-free opening boot, Alcantara sports seats and 9.2-inch touchscreen display, while the L&K comes with different-styled 18-inch wheels, ventilated front seats and a digital instrument cluster.
The Superb iV is powered by a 1.4-liter petrol engine and an electric motor that kick out a combined 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. With the 13 kWh battery fully charged, it has a 56-km (35-mile) all-electric range in the WLTP test cycle.
