The upcoming Hennessey Venom F5 will use a super lightweight, yet stiffer carbon fiber chassis, the company revealed.

According to Hennessey, torsional rigidity has been measured at 52,000 newton meters per degree (38,353 lb-ft torque per degree), surpassing even that of the Bugatti Chiron at 50,000 Nm, while at the same time, the total weight is just 86 kilograms (190 lbs).

“Our all new carbon fiber chassis is an engineering marvel and to see it in person is like looking at a piece of artwork.  It’s like a piece of automotive jewelry that’s built to run 500+ km/h,” said company founder and CEO, John Hennessey.

The carbon fiber backbone of the Texas tuner’s (turned-automaker) hypercar will be paired to a  6.6-liter V8 engine with copious amounts of horsepower and torque.

Dubbed ‘Fury’, the twin-turboV8  lump builds on the LS architecture and rocks a combination of lightweight components and high-tech parts, such as the high-flow wastegates, blow-off valves, fuel injects (2 per cylinder), stainless steel turbo headers and downpipes, catalytic converters and titanium exhaust system. It pushes out 1,817 hp (1,843 PS / 1355 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 1,193 pound-feet (1,617 Nm) of torque at 5,500 rpm. Over 1,000 lb-ft (1,356 Nm) are available between 2,000 and 8,000 rpm, while the gas gets cut at 8,200 rpm.

The Venon F5 has been in development for a long time, yet final details about its performance have yet to be released. Still, the company’s target is to exceed the 311 mph (500 km/h) mark, thus beating the current record-holder, the Bugatti Chiron. The Molsheim-based company used a modified prototype of the Chiron, eventually turned into the Super Sport 300+ special edition, to reclaim the crown. The hypercar was clocked at 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h).

Koenigsegg is also interested in breaking the 311 mph (500 km/h) barrier, and they’re reportedly planning a production series that has this capability. The model is rumored to be previewed by the Mission 500 Concept at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, in a little over a month, and could be based on the Jesko.
