The Grand Tour producer Andy Wilman is thinking about making one-off episodes under the Grand Tour banner without Clarkson, Hammond and May.

Talking to UK’s Daily Star, Wilman said that he would love to work with a range of guest presenters for special TGT episodes. “I’d love to do a specialized show under the Grand Tour banner. The Grand Tour with…blah doing blah. I don’t know who blah is. Say, Brian Johnson from AC/DC,” he said.

“He’s a car nut, I love him. But that’s not our call, that’s Amazon. All those things are fanciful but I’ll do them.”

That doesn’t mean that Clarkson, Hammond and May are ditching the show however, as Wilman adds that these special episodes could only be part of the regular series. Wilman’s idea is to expand the brand but with the iconic trio of presenters still onboard; as he puts it: “They are the show”.

“Shows like I’m a Celebrity or The Apprentice, the format or title of the show is probably bigger than the cast. So, you can have spin-offs because you’re talking about that format.”

“There’s no plan for a series because this ultimately is Last of the Summer Wine in action, three men bumbling their way through the world.”

Amazon’s The Grand Tour has abandoned the traditional weekly format, as well as the tent studio, in favor of a series of special episodes that involve Clarkson, Hammond and May taking epic trips across the world. The first episode had the iconic trio traveling from Cambodia to Vietnam on boats.
