UK buyers can now order the VW T-Cross with a more powerful four-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline unit, producing 150 PS (148 HP), which is enough to get you from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.5 seconds.
It also offers a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h), and in ideal circumstances, it can return 44.0 mpg (36.6 US mpg) on the combined WLTP cycle, emitting 118-119 g/km of CO2 (NEDC). Buyers can choose between SEL and R-Line trims for this new engine, available exclusively with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The T-Cross 1.5 TSI is priced from £24,910 ($32,524) in SEL spec, while the sportier R-Line variant will set you back £26,810 ($35,000) with the same engine.

“At Volkswagen, we are committed to making sure we live up to our People’s Car name by making a car for everyone. The T-Cross is no different, and those who would like an even more potent engine can now be catered for,” said VW UK product manager Claire Haynes. “The T-Cross’s motto is “I am more than one thing”, and the addition of this punchy new engine into the mix only goes to broaden the appeal of the car still further.”
Both the SEL and R-Line specs feature front and rear parking sensors, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Front Assist, LED headlights and an 8.0-inch Discover Navigation system as standard, plus two USB ports in the rear of the car.
The R-Line however adds larger 18-inch ‘Nevada’ alloys and a 10.25-inch Active Info Display for the driver.
