The 2021 Genesis GV80 will premiere in U.S. guise shortly and the reveal can be streamed live from 8:00 p.m. EST.
The unveiling of the U.S.-spec GV80 comes just a couple of weeks after the luxury SUV celebrated its global debut in South Korea and while the U.S. model will be largely the same, we do expect to see it differentiated from GV80s bound for Asian markets.

Most notably, the six-cylinder 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine initially being sold in South Korea is not expected to make its way to the U.S. This is somewhat a shame as the engine delivers 274 hp and 434 lb-ft (589 Nm) of torque and has been well received by journalists who’ve already tested the first SUV from Genesis.
In certain overseas markets, the GV80 will also be available with an entry-level turbocharged 2.5-liter petrol four-cylinder with 300 hp and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) as well as a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 offering up 375 hp and 390 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. It remains to be seen if these two engines will be offered in the U.S.
Visually, the Genesis GV80 should look largely the same for the U.S. market but to comply with local regulations, will need to adopt orange turn signals in its sleek quad headlights. Inside, some minor alterations could be made but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Details regarding the SUV’s pricing and availability remain unknown at this stage. We should learn more during the unveiling. On February 2, Genesis will air its first-ever Super Bowl commercial in a bid to promote the GV80.
