A handful of 2020 BMW M8 Competition Individual Manufaktur Edition models are still up for grabs in Canada following the car’s unveiling back in mid-September, 2019.
The special edition model, capped at just 20 units exclusively for the Canadian market, comes loaded with options and is available in Fire Red and Frozen Black. Just ten examples of each paint finish have been produced. There are at least two of the Fire Red examples currently available, one at BMW Edmonton in Alberta and another at BMW Gallery in Calgary.
A search of the German manufacturer’s online inventory suggests there are a handful of other examples that remain unsold and are looking for homes.

While the M8 Competition Individual Manufaktur looks good in both Frozen Black and Fire Red, it is perhaps the latter paint finish that’s more special. Why? Back in the early 1990s, BMW secretly developed an M8 Coupe prototype and that one-off was also painted Fire Red. BMW only acknowledged the existence of this prototype in 2010 and the Fire Red 2020 M8 Competition pays tribute to that car.
Regardless of whether shoppers opt for Frozen Black or Fire Red, all 20 examples include a host of M Performance parts including a carbon for the kidney grille surround, wing mirrors, side skirts, air intake surrounds, and rear diffuser. Inside, the coupes also feature a special ‘BMW Individual Manufaktur’ inscription on the carbon fiber cupholder and wireless phone charging tray cover.
When the limited-run model was announced, BMW said it had a starting price of CA$198,000 (about US$150,000 at current exchange rates). The example offered from BMW Gallery in Calgary has a sticker price of CA$206,450 while BMW Edmonton is asking CA$204,105 for the car they have in stock.
All 20 units are mechanically identical to the standard M8 Competition meaning they feature a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 616 hp (625 PS / 460 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque that helps it accelerate to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 3.2 seconds.
