Last month, German tuner ABT Sportsline announced a software upgrade for the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine found in Audi Sport’s latest RS6 Avant, RS7 Sportback and RS Q8.
Now, the aftermarket specialist has released more details about the latter model, which gets more than just a power and torque boost. Not that the added muscle wouldn’t be enough, though.
The ABT Power Performance Upgrade dials up the RS Q8’s V8 engine to 700 PS (690 HP / 515 kW) at 6,280-6,400 rpm and 880 Nm (649 lb-ft) of torque at 3.100-4.500 rpm. Those are gains of 100 PS (99 HP / 74 kW) and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) over the stock model.

According to ABT, the performance stands to gain from the upgrade as the high-tech control unit shaves 0.3 seconds off the standard RS Q8‘s 0-100 km/h sprint of 3.8 seconds. The top speed remains unchanged at 305 km/h (190 mph). Not bad for a vehicle that tips the scales at around 2.4 tonnes (5,291 lbs), don’t you think?
Power kit aside, the tuner also offers an electronic suspension upgrade in the form of the ABT Level Control (ALC) with three stages. The first one (Comfort) lowers the suspension by 25 mm (1 in) while the second (Dynamic) brings the RS Q8 15 mm (0.6 in) closer to the ground – both compared to the corresponding stock settings.
The third setting called ABT Loading Level (Coffee Mode) is available only when stationary. It lowers the performance SUV by 65 mm (2.5 in) compared to the original Comfort mode.
ABT Sportsline says the ALC suspension improves handling as it lowers the RS Q8’s the center of gravity. The company has other upgrades in the works, including the ABT Integrated Entrance Lights with logo projection and a wide selection of custom alloy wheels.
