Despite recent attempts to revive the Spyker brand, it looks as though the niche Dutch automaker will be consigned to the history books. That’s a shame as back in its heyday, it produced some pretty impressive cars. Just take this 2006 Spyker C8 Spyder, for example.

The car, currently up for sale on Bring A Trailer, is one of the most eye-catching sports cars launched in recent decades and is in desperate need of a new home. It is located in Naples, Florida and with 10 days left in the auction, had attracted a highest bid of $100,000.

The C8 Spyder is built around an aluminum spaceframe and in the back, features a 4.2-liter V8 engine from an Audi RS4 of the time, complete with an impressive 400 hp and 354 lb-ft (479 Nm) of torque. Such figures may not seem like much in a world of 400 hp hot hatches but it’s more than enough for everyday driving. Power is sent to the rear wheels courtesy of a Getrag six-speed manual transmission and a Drexler limited-slip differential.

The impressive list of features continues with the brakes sourced from AP Racing. At the front, there are large six-piston calipers while at the rear there are four-piston calipers clamping down on slotted and ventilated rotors. There is also adjustable suspension with inboard Koni shocks and Eibach springs.

As striking as the exterior is, it is perhaps the interior that’s the real highlight of the C8 Spyder. Adorning the cabin of this example is burgundy leather with contrasting white stitching and optional quilting on the seats, door panels, console, lower dashboard, and the sills. There’s also a gorgeous polished gearshift mechanism with an exposed linkage.

The car is being sold with approximately 13,000 miles (roughly 21,000 km) under its belt and includes two luggage cases, one of which features numerous Swissvax car care products.
