The owner of a 2007 Nissan Frontier King Cab has just exceeded 1 million miles (1.609 million km) in his beloved pickup truck.
Chicago delivery driver Brian Murphy starts his workdays before sunrise and returns home approximately 13 hours later. He set a goal of driving 1 million miles in his Frontier when he purchased it in 2007 and about 50,000 hours later, breezed past that goal.
“I had no doubt this truck would hit a million miles. It’s tough and gets great fuel economy, exactly what I need to get the job done,” he said. “I change my own oil every 10,000 miles and drive carefully. Nothing major has been replaced on this truck, it’s really something.”

Murphy says the Frontier’s original clutch lasted a remarkable 801,000 miles (1.28 million km) and that the timing chain was replaced at 700,000 miles (1.12 million km). The original radiator and alternator lasted about 450,000 miles (724,000 km) each and the driver’s seat lasted 500,000 miles (804,000 km) before it was replaced.
The truck’s digital odometer stopped tracking at 999,999 miles on January 27, 2020 but the trip odometer continues to count the miles.
Murphy gets the truck serviced at M’Lady Nissan in Crystal Lake, Chicago, the same dealership where he bought it.
“Brian Murphy is the perfect Frontier customer. It’s encouraging to hear exceptional stories like this and to know our vehicles are dependably serving customers – let alone for a million miles,” director of Nissan Commercial Vehicles Tiago Castro said.
Murphy and his family have been invited by Nissan to a special event at this week’s 2020 Chicago Auto Show.
