It’s been around six and a half years since Grand Theft Auto V was released and still, people not only to love the game but continually find ways to improve it, with one Reddit user having just completed work on a mod that allows for the entire story mode to be played in first-person VR.
The mod aptly dubbed R.E.A.L is available exclusively on the PC version of GTA V and is available to download for free at GitHub. The Independent reports that GTA V fans have been trying to mod the game for VR use for a number of years but says R.E.A.L is easily the best VR mod to date.
Modding involves users modifying a game’s code to add to or alter content and while many game companies frown upon the practice, Rockstar, the developers of Grand Theft Auto V, tolerates modding as long as it is done exclusively on single-player gameplay and doesn’t impact multiplayer and online modes.

“Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing,” the studio said in a statement. “It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorised, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.”
Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most successful games ever made and in the first three days after its release on 17 September 2013, it had generated $1 billion in sales. It is now the third best-selling video game of all time with 115 million copies shipped.
