Nearly a decade after being killed, Hummer is making a comeback.
To celebrate the occasion, GMC has tapped LeBron James to star in a 30 second Super Bowl commercial called “Quiet Revolution.”
Previewed last week, the clip highlights the insane performance specs of the GMC Hummer EV. The model will have an estimated output of 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS) and 11,500 lb-ft (15,574 Nm) of torque. This will enable the pickup to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately three seconds.

Those are some pretty impressive numbers and the ad notes they’ll be accompanied by silence. In particular, the clip shows James quietly shattering a basketball backboard as the video says “Pure dominance will sound like this.” The commercial ends by saying the Hummer EV will be all-electric, zero emissions and zero limits.
The video doesn’t provide a better look at the upcoming model but, as we have previously reported, it will feature a six slot grille and slender LED headlights. The truck also has a sculpted hood, squared off mirrors and a rugged front bumper with GMC badging. Last but not least, there will be roof-mounted lights just like those used on the H2.
The GMC Hummer EV will be unveiled on May 20th, just four days before the 10th anniversary of when the last ‘old’ Hummer rolled off the assembly line in Shreveport, Louisiana. The new model will be built at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant and go on sale in the fall of 2021.
In a short statement, James said “Teaming up with GMC to introduce the Hummer EV is a natural fit. Everyone knows about my love for Hummer since high school and I’m proud to be a part of announcing the new EV model.” He added, “The truck may be quiet, but the performance numbers speak for themselves.”
