The first-generation Acura NSX isn’t iconic simply because of how well its image has aged over time. In reality, its design was very much ahead of its time thanks to the advanced aerodynamics, plus its F-16 fighter jet-inspired styling.

During the NSX’s final development stages, Honda even brought in a Formula 1 world champion in the late Ayrton Senna to help calibrate the car in terms of cornering/handling.

When the plug was finally pulled, Honda had sold more than 18,000 NSX units worldwide, in just over 15 years. This 1991 black on black example, was one of them.

The mid-engine Japanese sports car is getting auctioned off through Bring a Trailer, featuring a black exterior, aftermarket front bumper cover with redesigned headlight housings (no more pop-up headlights), side skirts, rear valance and quite a few paintwork chips.

Other mods include 17-inch front and 18-inch rear Enkei TFR wheels, as well as Koni lowering springs, which is why the car looks even more aggressive than usual.

The interior isn’t exactly in tip top shape either, but it does come with black leather upholstery (even on the doors), an aftermarket shifter, Momo steering wheel, Sony head unit, plus an in-dash Apple CarPlay receiver.

As for the 3.0-liter V6 VTEC engine, it has 98,000 miles (157,700 km) on it and it used to put down 270 HP when new, to go with 210 lb-ft (285 Nm) of torque. The car also has a 5-speed manual gearbox and an aftermarket exhaust system.
