Less than 24 hours before the big reveal, Polestar dropped a second teaser picture of its Precept study, without providing any additional information. [Updated 2/24/2020]

Volvo’s performance brand Polestar will be unveiling the Precept Concept at a dedicated event hosted on February 25.

Details are very scarce at the time of writing, as they only pictured the car from above, in a dark environment. Still, the company’s signature headlights are partially visible, and so are the taillamps that feature a thin light strip between them.

“Precept: a rule intended to inform behavior or thought. In other words, a way of declaring how you mean to proceed. Starting as you mean to go on. Stating your intentions up top. A manifesto. It’s also the name for something that takes all of our ambitions and combines them”, said Polestar.

It’s impossible to tell what shape the Percept has from this teaser image alone, but it could be one of two things: either a new design approach that would further separate Volvo and Polestar, and which will be adopted by the entire range, or a future vehicle. We lean towards the latter and are tempted to say that it could preview an upcoming product, perhaps an SUV, with electric power, which is something that the Swedish brand currently lacks.

Volvo has the XC40 Recharge P8 AWD to cater to this segment, which features a couple of electric motors that deliver a combined output of 402 horsepower (408 PS / 300 kW). The 78 kWh battery gives it a range of 249 miles (400 km) in the WLTP cycle and supports 150 kW fast charging.

Whatever it is, Polestar’s new show car will exude state-of-the-art technology, likely packing the new infotainment system teased yesterday. If it is a new model, then it’s very likely that we’ll see it at the Geneva Motor Show next month as Polestar has been confirmed to have a press conference on March 3.

Guess we’ll have to wait until next week to find out what they’re cooking.
