We’ve seen dragsters pop wheelies, but a deceivingly near-stock looking Porsche 911 Turbo S doing it looks out of this world.
Nonetheless, in spite of the restrained looks, this German sports car has been turned into a hypercar killer. According to MotorTrend, Mark Blackwell, its owner, wanted a lot more from his 911 Turbo, so he turned to several tuning companies to see his dream come true.

After a lot of hard work, which included adding new internals and tuning others, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine has gained 200cc more and boasts around twice the initial horsepower: 1,000+ HP compared to the 560 HP when it was stock. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission has been strengthened to cope with the manic output.
As it’s still rear-wheel drive and features sticky tires, this 911 Turbo S has become a wheelie-popping beast, with the nose rising from a few inches to a whopping two feet (61 cm). Of course, having that much lift could literally hurt the car, and it did, as on one occasion, the rear diffuser got scratched.
The beastly 911 Turbo S was filmed a few days ago, on February 20, at the Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California. It completed the quarter-mile in 9.27 seconds, despite popping a wheelie and making its driver lift off the throttle to put the nose down. Its best run of the day was clocked at five tenths of a second faster.
