We finally found a fix on our side regarding Apple users experiencing issues signing into Disqus to comment – and no, it doesn’t involve switching to Windows, Linux or Android devices. In fact, you (probably) don’t have to do anything.
+ For the record, as many of you pointed out in the comments, the issue at hand wasn’t limited to Safari, but most browsers on Apple devices, including Chrome and Firefox on iOS / Mac.
+ We tested it on a number of Apple products, and the solution works. In the rare case it doesn’t, you might have to clear cache / cookies (Firefox / Chrome) or web data (Safari – as detailed below).
To answer a few of your questions:
– About some comments being held for moderation, that could be for a number of reasons, including the presence of URLs (links), going against TOS, certain word triggers, or (tinfoil hat alert) perhaps even because Disqus’ automated system deems so. A minor inconvenience to help keep the comments clean and healthy.
+ Regarding Captcha, it only appears periodically and temporarily when the system detects a sudden spike or outright spam attack to deter spamsters from flooding the moderation dash and/or the comments section.

We’ve received quite a few complaints over the past couple of weeks from Safari (browser) users not being able to sign into their Disqus accounts to comment on CarScoops. And because many of you have asked, unless you’re looking for that someone energetic and special over 90 or promising an Elon Musk-worthy paycheck working from home, then no, you haven’t been banned.
It’s actually a bug that we’ve already reached out to Disqus to troubleshoot. Until they get back to us with a permanent fix, we’ve found a temporary solution for Safari users. We will also give you an update here as soon as we hear back from the support team.
Here’s the workaround:
Step 1. Remove Website Data
a. If you’re a Safari Mac User do this:
+ Go to Safari’s Privacy Tab.
+ Click the Remove All Website Data button to erase all stored website data, or search for “Carscoops” and “Disqus” and remove related entries.
+ Reload Safari and move to Step 2.
b. On Safari iOS (iPad, iPhone), follow these steps:
+ Close Safari
+ Open the Settings app and tap Safari.
+ Tap Clear History and Website Data and Confirm.
+ Tap Advanced back in the Safari Settings window and select Website Data to clear other stored website data, and either remove all or search for “Carscoops” and “Disqus” and click the Edit link at the bottom (or top) right corner to remove by tapping the minus sign next to the site names.
+ Reload Safari and move to Step 2.
Step 2. Login Directly Through Disqus
+ Open Safari and go to the main Disqus page (be careful, not on Carscoops.com!) and sign in here:

Now you should be able to visit Carscoops.com signed into Disqus.
Step 3 (Optional). Tell Us If It Worked
+ Once signed in, open an article page and head to the comments and try it out.
