With the VW ID.3 already out in the open, SEAT has no real reason to hide the design of its el-Born EV anymore.
Still, the Spanish brand has to conform to the launch schedule set by the VW Group overlords, as it has done with the all-new Leon which debuted after the VW Golf. The good news is there doesn’t seem to be much time left until the unveiling of the SEAT EV, which may be called el-Born just like the concept vehicle that previewed it.
These latest spy shots give us the best look yet at the electric SEAT el-Born as this particular prototype has shed some camouflage since the last sighting.

The rear end in particular appears to look very different from what we’ve seen before. That’s because SEAT has dropped the padding, revealing a sculpted tailgate and a sporty rear bumper.
Unfortunately, we can’t find the taillights as they are completely covered by the confusing tape. However, don’t expect them to be much different from the concept which featured horizontal LED lights united by a light strip.
At the front, the similarities with the concept are striking, as the test car features very similar headlights with integrated LED turn signals and an “angrier” face than the VW ID.3. Overall, SEAT’s EV will look sportier and more emotional than its German sibling.
Speaking of the ID.3, it will borrow its electric drivetrain to the SEAT el-Born, meaning the Spanish EV could pack a rear-mounted electric motor with up to 201 HP (204 PS / 150 kW) and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque.
As with the VW ID.3, there should be three battery packs available with capacities of 45, 58 and 77 kWh. The standard one allows the ID.3 to travel up to 205 miles (330 km) on a single charge, while the largest increases that range to 342 miles (550 km).
Expect to see the SEAT El-Born with no disguise whatsoever later this year, possibly as early as the Geneva Motor Show in the next few weeks.
