An older generation Toyota Sienna minivan has been badly damaged after crashing in Ellicott City, Maryland after speeding through an intersection at high speed and slamming into a guard rail.

The incident was caught on camera and gets interesting at the 21-second mark of the video below when it appears that a maroon-colored Chevrolet makes a left-turn out of a gas station on the corner. It seems as though this Chevrolet either touched or came very close to hitting the white Sienna, forcing its driver to aggressively swerve roughly three car lengths before the intersection.

Without the time to brake, the minivan driver speeds through the intersection and from what we understand, possibly running a red light, desperately trying to regain control. Unable to do so, the Sienna crashes into a guard rail and soars down a small grass embankment before coming to a rest.

The driver who uploaded the dashcam footage says he found the female driver of the Sienna with her phone in hand just moments after the crash but it’s unclear if she was using her phone at the time of the crash or simply picked it up in the seconds after sliding down the embankment. Emergency services arrived on the scene minutes after the crash. Thankfully, there were “no apparent major injuries.”

It remains to be seen if local police conducted an investigation into the crash but hopefully they did as it appears as though the speeding minivan driver and the maroon Chevrolet both played their respective parts in the crash.
