Owners of the 2020 VW e-Golf in Canada are now eligible for 2 years of free charging with the Electrify Canada network thanks to a new agreement with Volkswagen.
Every owner of a 2020 VW e-Golf in Canada can now enjoy two years of free 30-minute (*) charging sessions on the Electrify Canada network, which will include more than 128 chargers throughout Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia by the end of 2020. But there’s a catch (isn’t there always?), with the company stating that “the first 30 minutes of every charge is complimentary. Sixty (60) minutes must elapse between complimentary sessions”.

“Our goal is to make EV adoption accessible to every driver and we are excited to be expanding our relationship with Volkswagen Canada,” said Robert Barrosa, chief operating officer of Electrify Canada. “Electrify Canada’s charging stations are designed to help EV drivers get to where they want to go – both with the speed of which they charge and strategic locations in convenient areas.”
Drivers will be able to redeem their complimentary charging sessions by enrolling in and managing their charging plan on the newly launched Electrify Canada mobile app that’s available on Android and Apple smartphones.
Electrify Canada’s EV chargers offer 150kW to 350kW of charging power to newer, larger-battery EVs coming to market, as well as 50kW to current electric vehicles, like the VW e-Golf.
The 2020 VW e-Golf is powered by a 134 HP electric motor and a 35.9kWh battery pack, giving it a driving range of up to 198 km (123 miles) per the NRCan guidelines. VW says it’s the company’s most successful electrified car to date with over 104,000 units sold.
