Every year, Motor Trend holds what it dubs the ‘World’s Greatest Drag Race’ where it gathers together it Best Driver’s Car test from that respective year and pits them head-to-head for a race down the quarter-mile. This 23-minute video shows each and every one of the last nine iterations of ‘World’s Greatest Drag Race.’
Things start out in 2011 where a fleet of stunning performance cars squared off. Ultimately, it was the Nissan GT-R that came away victorious ahead of the Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 GT, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Lexus LFA, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, Porsche Cayman R, BMW 1-Series M, and the Lotus Evora.

In 2012, there were cars including the McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, and Lamborghini Aventador competing. As you may expect, it was the Italian that came out on top.
Subsequent tests throughout the years have included some extraordinary performance machines and produced some surprising results. In 2017, it looked as though the EV revolution would take over with a Tesla Model S P100D involved and that’s exactly what happened, with the family sedan beating out the likes of the Ferrari 488 GTB and Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The two most recent races have seen the McLaren 720S and McLaren Senna come out on top respectively, showing that the British marque does indeed create some of the quickest-accelerating performance cars on earth.
