The Porsche Boxster has long been the German marque’s entry-level sports car but in Spyder guise, it is no slouch, reaching no less than 306 km/h (190 mph) during a recent high speed run on the Autobahn.

While behind the wheel of the sports car, AutoTopNL opened up the taps down a host of long straights along a damp section of the Autobahn and the sports car seemed to absolutely thrive in the conditions. Listening to its 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder sing is something we’d never get tired of hearing and the presence of a six-speed manual transmission appears to make the driving experience all the more special.

The aforementioned 4.0-liter flat-six of the Porsche Boxster Spyder is good for no less than 414 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque and according to Porsche, the car can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds as well as a top speed of 301 km/h (187 mph).

During filming of this clip, AutoTopNL had a GoPro focused on the car’s speedometer which showed it tick over to 306 km/h (190 mph). At such speeds, however, all speedometers are a little inaccurate and the GPS-based smartphone application also used during testing shows a top speed of 297 km/h (184.5 mph).

On the back of demand for the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder models, Porsche recently updated the Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS models by ditching the 2.5-liter flat-four engine in favor of a detuned version of the 4.0-liter flat-six from the GT4 and Spyder.
