When Jaguar launched the XF Sportbrake in our market at the end of 2017, as a 2018MY, many enthusiasts praised the British brand for offering a proper alternative to the five-door variant of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

However, not many of them placed an order for the long-roof executive Jag, which left more than a few examples in dealer lots. Now, as AutoTrader reports, some of those cars have ridiculously high discounts, ranging between $20,000 and $30,000.

This means that you could get one for as little as $40,000, or perhaps even less, depending on how strong your negotiating skills are. Keep in mind that some of these cars have been used as dealer loaners while waiting for customers to swoop in, so they do have a few miles on the odometer.

Digging hard through dealer lots could even get you a few First Editions. The special model was only available at launch and should have sold like hotcakes, yet like the rest of the XF Sportbrakes that remain in dealer lots these days, these too have failed to find new homes.

Pricing for the 2018 XF Sportbrake used to start at $70,450 and it came exclusively with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine, making 380 HP. The unit was paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive and allowed the car to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.3 seconds.

The 2020 XF S Sportbrake has an MSRP of $71,800 and packs the same lump. The entry-level Prestige will set you back at least $65,150 and comes with a 296 HP 2.0-liter turbo-four that lets it accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.7 seconds.
