2020 Mazda CX-5 Gets New Engine Tech And Polymetal Grey Color For UK

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 will be available to order in the UK beginning April 1st, with prices ranging from £27,030 ($33,000) for the entry-level SE-L spec, all the way to £39,085 ($47,800) for the flagship GT Sport.

New for the range is cylinder deactivation tech for 165 PS Skyactiv-G gasoline models with manual gearboxes, as well as the Polymetal Grey Metallic paint, as seen in the gallery below.

Inside, the 2020MY CX-5 features changes to its central command screen, which now allows mapping to extend full-screen on the monitor.

“The CX-5 showcases how Mazda can make an SUV that’s stylish, great to drive and capable of luring customers from premium badged rivals. The CX-5 is a sophisticated, practical and stylish SUV, that delivers an outstanding balance of ride and handling,” said Mazda UK exec Jeremy Thomson.

The 14-model range hosts six gasoline and eight diesel models. The 165 PS Skyactiv-G variant comes with front-wheel drive exclusively, but you get a choice of either a manual or automatic transmission. The three available grades are: SE-L, Sport and GT Sport.

Meanwhile, the 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine is offered in 150 PS and 184 PS outputs. The 150 PS version is matched to SE-L and Sport grades with FWD, while the 184 PS version is paired to AWD in Sport and GT Sport grades – you get the same choice of manual or automatic gearboxes as you do with gasoline models.

Since 73% of all CX-5 sales in the UK are taken by Sport models or higher, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 Sport was given standard 19-inch silver alloy wheels, a reversing camera and power-lift tailgate, eight-way power adjustable drivers’ seat, black leather, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, 10-speaker Bose audio system and a windscreen projecting color head-up display.

As for the flagship GT Sport, it comes with a unique 7-inch color TFT dial display, and a premium steering wheel design with a chrome center bezel. Other goodies include front seat ventilation and heated outer seats, 19-inch bright alloy wheels, Adaptive LED headlights, Driver Attention Alert, Rear Smart City Brake Support and the 360-degree View Monitor.
