Just a few days after the Geneva Motor Show was canceled due to the coronavirus, officials from the New York Auto Show stated that the event will proceed as scheduled. And to make sure we heard right, they sent a follow up message to reassure us that everything is going as planned and that the show is still on.
The second confirmation that the New York Auto Show will go ahead came shortly before it was revealed that 11 more people in New York have now tested positive for Covid-19, raising the total number in the state to 22 today.

In a statement issued to the media, organizers of the New York Auto Show revealed that the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center where the show will be held has put in place new measures to help prevent the spread of the virus. Most notably, the Javits Center has installed 70 hand-sanitizing stations throughout the convention center to allow visitors to frequently clean their hands.

Shortly before officials in New York revealed that the number of local Covid-19 cases had jumped from six to 11, approximately 1,000 people were being asked to self-quarantine themselves as they may have had contact with those infected.
The second person in New York to contract Covid-19 is an attorney in his 50s that works in Manhattan. His son, daughter, wife, and neighbor have all tested positive for the coronavirus this week.
While organizers of the New York Auto Show say the event is still on, the truth is that it’s virtually impossible to predict how quickly the virus will spread in the five weeks leading up to the show, scheduled to open to members of the media on April 8. Just to get an idea, in the hours between drafting this post and publishing live, NY officials had confirmed 11 new cases.
