First presented in January, the all-new 2020 SEAT Leon gets detailed in a big photo gallery and new videos as the automaker prepares to start deliveries across Europe.
Built on the MQB Evo platform just like the VW Golf Mk8, Audi A3 Mk4 and Skoda Octavia Mk4, the fourth-generation SEAT Leon offers more variety than ever before. For starters, customers can choose between two body styles, the five-door hatch and the Sportstourer wagon.
Thanks to their increased dimensions, both offer more space for rear passengers than their predecessors, with the wagon offering more cargo volume as well – 620 liters (21.9 cu ft).

Then there are the four different trim levels (Reference, Style, Xcellence and FR), which bring not only different equipment but also different styling as well – particularly the sporty FR grade. Make no mistake, we’re not including the Cupra Leon hot hatch here, which has become a separate model under the Cupra brand.
Customers can also choose from a wide range of powertrains, which includes, for the first time on a SEAT Leon, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid units. Kicking off the range are two 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged three-cylinder units rated at 90 PS (89 HP) and 110 PS (109 HP), respectively. These are also a first for the SEAT Leon.
Next up is the 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine, available in 130 PS (128 HP) and 150 PS (148 HP) variants – both offering Active Cylinder Management as standard. The range-topping petrol engine is a 2.0-liter TSI rated at 190 PS (187 HP) and offered with a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.
Fans of diesel engines have two choices: a 2.0-liter TDI rated at 115 PS (113 HP) and another 2.0-liter TDI delivering 150 PS (148 HP). In the Leon Sportstourer, the latter variant is available with the 4Drive AWD system.
The all-new SEAT Leon also offers eTSI 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance for the 1.0 TSI 110 PS (109 HP) and 1.5 TSI 150 PS (148 HP) petrol engines, both exclusively in combination with the DSG transmission.
Customers can also get the 2020 Leon as a 204 PS (201 HP) plug-in hybrid combining a 1.4 liter TSI petrol engine with an electric motor, 13 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and six-speed DSG transmission. Finally, the 130 PS (128 HP) 1.5-liter TGI unit is a bi-fuel engine running both on CNG and petrol.
SEAT says the all-new Leon is its first fully connected car, thanks to in-car and out-car connectivity (online-based navigation, functions and services), including Full Link with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. It’s also the safest SEAT ever thanks to the integration of a suite of updated and completely new advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Those include Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), predictive Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Emergency Assist, Travel Assist and Side and Exit assist, and more.
The all-new SEAT Leon will launch next month across Europe with a starting price of €20,000 ($21,950) in Germany.
