The all-new Audi A3 Sportback has already been unveiled for global markets, yet the five-door hatchback will not be the only body style on offer.
Towards the end of this year, Audi will reveal the second body style of the fourth-generation A3, the four-door sedan. Targeting mainly the United States and China, the 2021 Audi A3 Sedan is expected to debut in late 2020 with the same underpinnings and similar design as the hatchback.
According to a report from Car&Driver, citing sources from within the company, the next-generation A3 Sedan will be equipped as standard in the U.S. with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. This unit will deliver around 240 horsepower and will come complete with a 48-volt hybrid system and standard front-wheel drive (AWD will be an option).

Later on, U.S. buyers will also be able to get the S3 Sedan variant with a 2.0-liter turbo-four rated at around 300 horsepower. As before, the high-performance RS3 Sedan will top the range with a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five cylinder, with more than 400 horsepower.
Styling-wise, the 2021 Audi A3 Sedan will look identical to the Sportback up to and including the rear doors. The rear end will be different, obviously. Expect an identical cabin too, with a modern dashboard featuring large display screens for the instrument panel and the infotainment system.
While all of the above variants will be offered exclusively in sedan guise in the U.S., the A3 Sportback will eventually become available Stateside as well, but only as an e-tron plug-in hybrid. The next-generation A3 Sportback e-tron will be powered by a 1.4-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor delivering a combined 240 horsepower.
Prices for the next-generation Audi A3 lineup are likely to remain close to the current model, the same report claims.
