The Traverse is Chevrolet’s best-looking crossover and it’s getting an updated design for 2021.
Looking instantly recognizable, the model has a new front fascia with a revised grille that is flanked by newly standard LED headlights. The latter are slimmer than before and now feature turn signals which are integrated into daytime running lights.
Below, there’s a beefier looking bumper with a prominent plastic insert. The model also has new LED fog light surrounds and updated chrome trim.
The changes continue out back as the Traverse has been equipped with restyled taillights. They’re connected by a chrome bar which features a new contrasting black or copper accent. Elsewhere, there are four new wheel designs.
Moving into the cabin, there are new seating options and an upgraded infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additional changes are limited, but the available Dual SkyScape roof now has a power sunshade for the rear panel.
Other highlights include a newly available 8-inch driver information display. It resides in the instrument cluster and shows a digital speedometer, among other things.
Besides the styling changes, the 2021 Traverse will come with additional standard safety features. They include Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Buyers will also find Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator and IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlights.
Furthermore, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control is now available on 3LT, RS and Premier trims. The Premier and High Country also gain a newly standard Safety Alert Seat.
Chevrolet didn’t mention performance specifications, but the crossover’s 3.6-liter V6 engine should carryover. It produces 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. We can also expect to find a familiar nine-speed automatic transmission which can be paired with an optional all-wheel drive system.
The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse will go on sale late this year and we wouldn’t be surprised if it costs a tad more than the current model which starts at $29,800.
