The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon isn’t the first car made by Dodge to wear the ‘Demon’ nameplate, as back in 1971, the automaker built the 2-door fastback Dodge Demon based around the Dart of the day.
Like the Demon of today, the 1971 and ’72 model used a V8 engine albeit one with far less power. Eager to find out what a classic Dart Demon would be like with a more modern and powerful engine, Abimelec Design has rendered this special restomod example.

While the engine bay of the Dart could fit the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine of the modern-day Demon, the designer went down a different route and instead opted to swap in the engine of a Dodge Neon SRT-4.
This intriguing subcompact was produced between 2003 and 2005 as the high-performance variant of the rather benign Neon and runs a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with up to 230 hp and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque. Those figures may not seem like much compared to the 840 hp of the existing Demon. However, for a car as old as the Dart Demon, a powerful four-cylinder would do the job just fine. It would also deliver a nice boosted, high-revving soundtrack, not what you’d expect to hear from such a car.
Beyond the engine, Abimelec Design’s Dart Demon is bathed in a simple white paint job and includes a matte black hood with a large air intake to feed the turbocharged engine. There are also a set of classic chrome wheels to complete the look.
