Aston Martin Valkyrie Driven On Public Roads For The First Time

Aston Martin begun testing the Valkyrie hypercar on public roads for the first time, with a dark blue test car being driven around the company’s Silverstone test center in the UK.

This is our first time seeing the Aston Martin Valkyrie on the public road among regular traffic, and rather unsurprisingly wearing number plates doesn’t make it look like any less of a jaw-dropping spectacle. Just look at that rear end.

Aston Martin will build just 150 examples of the Valkyrie, with first deliveries scheduled to take place in the latter half of the year.

The hybrid hypercar is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine developed by Cosworth, producing 1,000 HP and 545 lb-ft (740 Nm) of torque and coupled to an electric motor that adds 160 HP and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque into the mix. Aston Martin says the combined output of the Valkyrie is rated at 1160 HP at 10,500 rpm and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) at 6000 rpm. The engine can rev up to 11,200 rpm.

The upcoming Valkyrie, which is co-developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, is expected to offer 1:1 power-to-weight ratio as final production examples target a weight figure of around 1,000 kg (2,204 lbs).

The company also targets up to 1,816 kg (4,000 lbs) of downforce at top speed, thanks to the insane aerodynamics of the Valkyrie’s body. The goal for Aston’s upcoming hypercar is to lap the Silverstone as fast as an F1 car.
