Bollinger Motors has unveiled their patent-pending E-Chassis which will underpin the B1 SUV and B2 pickup.

Billed as the “world’s first and only Class 3 electric platform,” the E-Chassis is a heavy duty architecture that has been designed with commercial applications in mind.

The company didn’t say too much about the platform, but noted it’s “fully customizable” and can be offered with front-, rear- and all-wheel drive configurations. The architecture can also be adapted to accommodate various different wheelbases.

Thanks to this flexibility, the platform will be used to underpin future models. Bollinger didn’t go into specifics, but confirmed there are plans for “other trucks” besides the B2.

Among the features are the ability to accommodate 120 kWh and 180 kWh battery packs. The platform also boasts a 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) payload capacity, an integrated thermal-management system, and an independent front and rear suspension. It also has a hydro-pneumatic self-leveling suspension, electronic traction and stability control as well as an on-board charger with a capacity of between 5-15 kW.

According to CEO Robert Bollinger, “When we first built our Class 3 B1, we knew there was a commercial aspect to the platform.” He added, “Not only cab-on-chassis, but entirely new truck bodies can fit on our E-Chassis, and help propel the world to all-electric that much faster.”

Putting aside the chassis, the B1 and B2 feature two electric motors that produce a combined output of 614 hp (458 kW / 623 PS) and 668 lb-ft (906 Nm) of torque. This will enable the vehicles to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 100 mph (161 km/h). They’ll also have a range of approximately 200 miles (322 km) with the 120 kWh battery pack.

Pricing starts at $125,000 and the company is currently accepting reservations for a $1,000 deposit.
