A year after being showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show 2019 as a thinly disguised concept, the production-ready Buick GL8 Avenir is just around the corner and has been previewed with a single interior image. However, as you can compare for yourself in the gallery of the concept model below, it’s literally the same image sans the champagne glasses – not that we’re surprised.
The luxurious minivan, set to be sold exclusively in China, will sit atop the GL8 range and appears to be virtually unchanged from the concept.
This interior image reveals that the minivan’s second-row seats will be just as plush and luxurious as the front passenger and driver’s seats. As such, there is quilted leather, footrests that extend up and a large center divider appearing to house cupholders, a storage cubby, and foldable tray tables. There also appear to be some plush floor mats and a host of blue trimmings, including the door panels and seatbelts.

As for the front, you will notice that it supports a pair of large displays doubling as a digital gauge cluster and the infotainment system. Like the rear, there are also a number of blue accents.
The third-generation Buick GL8 has been in production since 2016 and comes fitted as standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine offering up 260 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. Coupled to this four-cylinder is a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The GL8 can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in approximately 9.3 seconds and cruise at 127 mph (205 km/h).
It remains to be seen when the GL8 Avenir will hit the market but when it does, it will rival range-topping variants of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Lexus LM.
