We’ve known about the forthcoming all-electric Porsche Macan for quite some time and according to a report out of Germany, we still have a little while to wait before it becomes a reality.
According to previous reports, Porsche has been readying the launch of the electric Macan for as early as 2021. However, Automobilwoche says production of the electric SUV won’t commence until late 2022. That means customer deliveries won’t start until 2023.

Technical details about the forthcoming zero-emissions Macan remain unconfirmed but we understand it will use the new PPE platform being co-developed by Porsche and Audi. This platform will also underpin the road-going Audi e-tron GT.
As with all other Porsche models, the electric Macan will be sold in a number of guises. Sitting at the top of the range will be a Porsche Macan Turbo sporting a pair of electric motors and said to be good for at least 700 hp and 750 lb-ft (1,016 Nm) of torque. Details about the size of the SUV’s battery pack, and consequently its range, are unclear.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Porsche will continue to sell ICE-powered Macan variants alongside the all-electric model. While some pundits may think Porsche should replace the entire Macan family with EV variations, the truth is that the Macan is Porsche’s best-selling model and it could upset customers if, all of a sudden, the Macan becomes electric and only electric. As such, ICE variants could remain in production for at least three years following the arrival of the electric model.
