Toyota has released full details and a huge photo gallery of the 2020 GR Supra 2.0 for European markets.

First announced in January, the European-spec Supra four-cylinder model extends the range with a more affordable and lighter model. The entry-level Supra is powered by a BMW-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 258 PS (255 HP / 190 kW) at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque from 1,550 to 4,000 rpm.

Mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, it enables the Supra to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds (using the launch control function) and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

While the four-cylinder Supra is around one second slower to 100 km/h than the six-cylinder model, it’s more fuel-efficient. Toyota says the average fuel consumption is as low as 5.9 liters/100 km (47.9 mpg UK / 39.9 mpg US), with corresponding CO2 emissions of 135 g/km (NEDC correlated figures).

More importantly, buyers will get a 100-kg (220-lbs) lighter car thanks mostly to the smaller engine. The power plant is shorter and therefore its mass is located closer to the center of the car. Toyota says this supports an ideal front/rear balance and better inertia characteristics.

18″ wheels for the base 2.0 GR Supra

The only external elements that distinguish the 2.0-liter GR Supra from the 3.0-liter model are the 18-inch wheels and 90-mm (3.5-in) diameter bright chrome exhaust finishers (the six-cylinder Supra has 100-mm / 3.9-in brushed stainless steel finishers). Speaking of wheels, they are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport rubber sized 255/40 ZR18 at the front and 275/40 ZR18 at the rear.

There are more differences when the customer opts for the Fuji Speedway GR Supra 2.0, a launch edition model offered in a run of 200 units exclusively for Europe. The Fuji Speedway Supra combines a unique white metallic paint finish with red mirror caps and contrasting 18-inch matte black alloys. Inside, the limited-edition model brings carbon fiber dashboard trim inserts and striking red and black Alcantara upholstery.

Production of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra 2.0 for Europe began in January, with the first deliveries expected in March.
