The Polestar 1, Porsche Taycan Turbo S, and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S are very three different types of Grand Tourers and each show the upsides and downsides of hybrid, all-electric, and ICE powertrains.
This review from Autocar sets out to see which of the three is the best all-rounder and while they may not be direct rivals with each other, it is interesting to see the three different approaches of Polestar, Porsche, and Mercedes-AMG.
The Taycan Turbo S will likely prove to be the most future-proof of the trio as it is the only one with an all-electric powertrain. That powertrain, by the way, sports two electric motors to produce a combined 750 hp and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque with Overboost enabled or 616 hp in normal driving scenarios.

Porsche’s decision to launch an all-electric car was a controversial one but by all accounts, the Taycan Turbo S is a home-run.
By contrast, the Polestar 1 is a plug-in hybrid and also happens to be a two-door which, to our eyes, makes it the best-looking of the bunch. It runs a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder joined by two electric motors at the rear wheels and delivers a total of 600 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm).
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S is very conventional in comparison as it features a lumping great 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 630 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. So, which one gets your vote?
