The entry-level is jammed with sports suspension, body-hugging seats wrapped in Alcantara, drive mode system with ‘Race’, two-zone climate control, infotainment with smartphone integration and others. The upper grade adds 18-inch wheels, GR sports suspension, red-painted brake calipers, limited slip differential and strut brace. Four exterior paint finishes, the Precious Black Metallic, Karmina Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Snow White complete the offering.

Unveiled at the beginning of the year, the 2020 GR Yaris is the street-legal version of the company’s WRC racer for next season. It packs a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is good for 261 PS (257 HP / 192 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. Power is channeled to both axles via a six-speed manual transmission, with the manufacturer claiming 5.5 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration, and a 230 km/h (143 mph) electronically limited top speed.

The four-wheel drive system has three different settings named the Normal, Sport and Track. Up to 60 percent of the torque is sent to the front wheels in the former, and a maximum of 70 percent are directed to the rear axle in Sport. Selecting Track will balance the torque distribution at 50 percent for optimal traction in between the apexes.
