Hennessey Performance only just took delivery of its 2020 Corvette Stingray and already, has fitted it with a pair of turbochargers.
While not much information has been given about Hennessey’s ongoing Corvette project, we can see that the turbochargers have been mounted at the very base of the engine.
As such, the normal quad tailpipes have been removed and there are instead just a pair of pipes coming straight off the turbochargers. When the car’s completed, however, we expect it to feature some visible tailpipes.
Even before the new Corvette Stingray started to reach the hands of customers, Hennessey confirmed it will offer a number of different twin-turbo packages for the car that product up to 1,200 hp.

It’s worth pointing out that work is still ongoing on this particular twin-turbo C8 and that the Texas tuner likely still has a lot of work to do refining and tuning the system before it can start working on customer cars.
While the new Corvette is the first one to be mid-engined and despite it also utilizing a new LT2 6.2-liter V8 engine, the powertrain does share many similarities with other GM V8’s, allowing aftermarket specialists to modify it with little difficulty.
Out of the box, the new ‘Vette delivers 495 hp when fitted with the optional performance exhaust. That’s enough grunt for most owners but it seems apparent many others will turn to the aftermarket to modify their C8s rather than wait for Chevrolet to launch future variants such as the new Z06 and ZR1.
