Shortly after Hennessey Performance showed the world’s first twin-turbocharged 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray up and running, the modified sports car has been filmed hitting the dyno for the very first time.

Not only does the modified Corvette seem to run very nicely but it also offers up a serious amount of grunt. In fact, it put down figures of 643 hp and 570 lb-ft (773 Nm) of torque through the rear wheels. To put that into perspective, the 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 powering the C8 as standard delivers 495 hp at the flywheel and in recent dyno videos, that translates to around 440-460 whp depending on the dyno and the conditions.

Hennessey dyno tested this very same C8 Corvette before modifying it and saw it deliver 466 whp and 451 lb-ft (611 Nm) of torque, meaning the car is producing 177 hp and 119 lb-ft (161 Nm) more than stock.

It’s worth pointing out that the Texas tuner’s Corvette is still running its stock ECU tune and only running on 5 psi of boost. Once new software is created and boost is increased, horsepower and torque figures will soar, likely to well over 800 whp and 600 lb-ft at the wheels with limited other modifications.

In December, Hennessey announced it will offer a host of upgrade packages for the new Corvette, including a range-topping variant that churns out an insane 1,200 hp with a built engine. The tuner isn’t just focused on twin-turbo packages either and says it will develop a supercharged version with approximately 700 hp.
