A woman out for a jog with her dog in California earlier this week was hit by a speeding BMW in an incident one witness described as intentional.
Security camera vision from a home in the area captured the white E36-generation BMW 3-Series speeding around local streets and a woman running with her dog. Witnesses claim the BMW was doing more than 50 mph (80 km/h) despite the 25 mph (40 km/h) speed limits.
While footage shared by local media outlets doesn’t show the exact moment the BMW hit the woman for obvious reasons, it does depict the driver at one stage doing donuts in the center of the road and almost sliding into the woman.
Speaking with Fox 40, local resident Michael Anderson said, “I saw him come at her and she was running. He turned around again and was actually on the sidewalk this time and he went right over her. I’m just glad that she’s alive because I really didn’t think that would be the case.”

According to Sacramento County Sherrif’s Sgt. Tess Deterding, the woman was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say that the woman’s dog ran off after the incident and was only found later in the day after an extensive search of the area.
“We all are on edge right now, so I can understand being on edge. But to try to actually run somebody over on the second pass and keep going, you don’t care about somebody else’s life. What if that was one of your family members? How would you feel?” Anderson added.
As of March 23, police had located the suspect’s vehicle and towed it for evidence but were still on the hunt for the driver.
