Hyundai’s appetite for sporty models, developed under the ‘N’ sub-brand, has increased the past year, with both confirmed and rumored models hitting the airwaves.
This time, there’s a rumor about a new Elantra N that has surfaced on TheKoreanCarBlog, though there’s no supporting evidence or even a source other than a general mention about “a new report says” without elaborating, so take this one with a grain of salt.

Said to arrive in the months after the launch of the regular seventh generation Elantra, which will be revealed online next week, the rumored Elantra N is believed to pack a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine from the i30 N. The four-cylinder is available in two outputs, with 250 PS (246 HP / 184 kW) and 275 PS (271 HP / 202 kW), and the four-door is said to be offered in the latter spec, with a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional eight-speed DCT.
Another hot model that’s in the making at Hyundai N is the i20 N. This one, however, is widely believed to have been previewed in Hyundai’s recent mystery teaser pictured above. We won’t see it in the States, but it could arrive as early as this year, with chassis upgrades, a sporty makeover and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, making around 200 HP. It could be offered with both a six-speed stick shift and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
We’ve also spied the Kona N that will challenge the likes of the Volkswagen T-Roc R in Europe and other markets. It is believed to pack a 275 PS (271 HP / 202 kW) 2.0-liter turbo-four, matched to a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed DCT.
Still undergoing testing but probably due at the beginning of 2021, the facelifted i30 N is tipped to get a small boost in power in the range-topping form, from 275 to 280 PS (271-276 HP / 202-206 kW), offering both a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed DCT.
