Legacy Overland specializes in breathing new life into old off-roaders and the sweet spot of its lineup is the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.
We have seen many cool FJ40 restomods coming from Legacy Overland over the years but the latest one is definitely a candidate for best-in-class honors. Looks-wise, the aftermarket specialist went for a Desert Storm Tan paint that fits this 1982 FJ40 perfectly and goes together quite nicely with the white-colored accents on the grille, bumpers and wheels.
The FJ40 restomod rides on 16-inch OEM steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, shod with meaty BFGoodrich Mud/Terrain tires (285/75 R16). Exterior upgrades also include LED headlamps, rear LED utility lamp, body-color jerry can and a hi-lift jack attached to the body.

Inside, Legacy Overland opted for a black vegan leather upholstery with Desert Storm Tan piping and micro-perforated seating surfaces. The same type of leather covers the top of the dashboard, door panels and cubby box, while the floor is covered by a custom-made textured vinyl carpet with edge trim.
The list of contemporary creature comforts consists of air conditioning, four-speaker RestroSound Long Beach sound system with Bluetooth and Sirius XM satellite radio, a USB charging port, and more.
Powering the modernized Land Cruiser FJ40 is a brand new 5.7-liter crate engine mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission – both sourced from GM. The powertrain features a Weber 600 CFM carburetor with electric choke that ensures the vintage Toyota off-roader gains classic V8 rumble and power while retaining a largely stock appearance.
Other mechanical upgrades include disc brakes all around, disc parking brakes, Old Man Emu leaf springs and suspension components, Terrain Tamer gas shocks, custom-built fuel tank, power steering, and much more.
