We’ve heard of aggressive marketing, but spamming people with “Trade-In Your Tesla” flyers seems like a whole new level of redundancy if what you’re offering in exchange isn’t fully electric.
At best, all Lexus can offer eco-conscious buyers are hybrid versions of their popular models, such as the UX, NX, RX, ES, LS and LC, with the rest of the range being powered by internal combustion engines exclusively.
Well, none of those facts deterred one Lexus dealership in Texas from encouraging Tesla owners to trade in their car, telling them: “You’ve had your fun, now it’s time for zero compromise.”

Lexus of Lakeway, located near Austin, managed to get their hands on Tesla owners’ information for the region and sent them this trade-in flyer, which also grants you an additional $1,000 discount. Other claimed perks include: local dealer network, no delays on parts, zero range issues or anxiety and the fact that the dealership will pay “top dollar” for your Tesla trade-in.
Also written on the back of the flyer is the fact that Lexus is the #1 luxury brand as per JD Power in terms of initial quality and vehicle dependability, and #2 in customer satisfaction.
Wishful thinking?
Some might say that for anyone to believe that a Tesla owner would want to go back to hybrid drive or even internal combustion is naive at best. Let’s not forget that back in 2018, Elon Musk himself revealed that Toyota Prius owners were top of the list in terms of who was trading in their car for a Model 3.
As for that “zero compromise” statement, they do have a point in regards to range anxiety and possibly even dealer proximity and availability, but on the other hand, and depending on the model, you’ll likely be compromising on the level of performance and your impact on the environment by switching back to a internal combustion model no matter how dependable or high-quality the latter might be.
