The Lotus Evija is one of the most remarkable performance cars unveiled in recent memory and while some remain on the fence about hugely-powerful electric hypercars, it appears as though the British marque hasn’t had much trouble finding willing buyers for its $2.6 million machine.
While recently speaking with Autocar, Lotus confirmed that all of the Evijas it intends on building this year have already been sold. Sadly, the carmaker didn’t say exactly how many Evija models it has sold but does intend on commencing production in the summer.

The Lotus Evija will be manufactured at a new facility at Lotus’s Hethel, Norfolk headquarters. Work on this site is nearing completion. Lotus has been putting the hypercar through its paces at its test track for quite some time and all appears positive.
“With our new factory ready, we are ahead of the pack in the emerging EV hypercar segment and 100% ready for some healthy competition,” Lotus boss Phil Popham recently said.
Testing of the Lotus Evija will soon extend beyond the company’s test track and include other circuits around Europe.
“Over the coming months several prototypes will cover many thousands of miles and hundreds of hours of driving assessment, including on public roads,” Lotus has confirmed.
The Lotus Evija features a 70 kWh battery pack compatible with 800 kW fast-charging and comes with four electric motors delivering a combined 1,972 hp, making this the most powerful production road car on earth. It will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3 seconds, 186 mph (300 km/h) in 9 seconds, and continue to beyond 200 mph (320 km/h). Just 130 units will be built.
