If you’re a drag racing fan with a need for speed, we may have found the perfect car for you; a modified 1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 drag racer capable of neck-snapping acceleration.

The car, currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer, has been overhauled for racing and is about as far from street legal as you can get. Driving the car is a 434 cubic-inch V8 engine that was recently outfitted with new pistons and rings, connecting rods, bearings, and reconditioned CNC-machined aluminum cylinder heads.

Other bespoke engine parts include Smith Brothers pushrods, T&D rocker arms, an MSD Digital-7 Plus ignition control module, and an Edelbrock Super Victor intake manifold. Running in standard guise the engine delivers a cool 800 hp but when running its two-stage nitrous system, that increases to 1,600 hp.

Power is sent to the rear wheels courtesy of a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission with a PTC bolt-together torque converter and a transbrake for first and second gears. A cool $250,000 has been invested in the car.

To ensure the car can handle the power provided by the V8 and nitrous system, it features a host of custom parts from Chassis Engineering including new rear shocks, pro-stock wheelie bars, Aerospace Components four-piston brakes, and is running on Mickey Thompson drag tires at the rear. No stone has been left unturned in creating a straight-line monster and this is particularly evident in the cabin where two nitrous bottles rest where the passenger seat would have once been.
