Prototypes for Mercedes’ all-new C-Class sports sedan have been on the road for nearly a year now, gradually wearing less and less body cladding.
Our latest spy images revealed the production bodywork, as well as a partially-exposed grille, the headlights graphics, the shape of the taillights (or a rough estimate), and of course, the new interior with its large infotainment screen, new steering wheel and round air vents.
Now, will the new C-Class look exactly like it does in these two renderings by Kolesa? Possibly. For starters, the designer implemented the new grille shape as seen in our latest spy images, so thumbs up for that.

More brownie points should be awarded for the seemingly accurate headlight graphics, although the overall headlight design may not look exactly like it does in the drawing.
Moving on to the rear, cut-outs made on prototypes do point to this being the overall shape of the taillight units, a sort of flat teardrop design, though in reality it could be a little more pointy towards the inner edges, like say on the A-Class Sedan.
The only thing we can point to and say it clearly doesn’t match the spy shots are the mirrors, although we’re not too sure about the profile either – specifically the way in which the automaker’s Sensual Purity design language was inferred.
The fifth-gen C-Class will be underpinned by an updated version of Mercedes’ rear-wheel driven MRA architecture, and will support electrification. The lineup will eventually consist of a four-door sedan, wagon, plus coupe and convertible variants to tackle the BMW 4-Series range.
