Mazda is entering the Gran Turismo world as an official partner of the game’s FIA-certified championships and to celebrate the occasion, the company revealed the RX-Vision GT3 Concept.
The virtual concept itself was conceived as a GT3 racing version of the RX-Vision that was first shown at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Like its real-life sibling concept, the RX-Vision GT3 pays homage to the brand’s legendary rotary engine but it’ll exist only on Gran Turismo Sport, starting from May 25.

Compared to the original concept, the virtual GT3 version features an extensive list of modifications to make it more race-worthy. These include a wider body kit to cover the new tracks, a new sculpted bonnet that’s part of the full-race aero agenda, along with the deep front splitter, the fender louvers, the gigantic rear diffuser and that towering wing.
Mazda says that the RX-Vision GT3 Concept is powered by a high-revving rotary engine producing 562 HP and we’re guessing some massive flames out of those side-exit exhaust pipes.
Combine this with a weight figure of just 1,250 kg (2,755 lbs) and a 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution and you should probably get an idea of how sweet this Mazda will be to drive on a virtual track.
Mazda first teased the new RX-Vision GT3 Concept back in November at the 2019 Gran Turismo Championships World Finals with a sketch. Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi said at the time: “I think all of you here will be able to tell, that with these proportions it will be a really good car to drive. The roof is obviously very low, and the 4 tires are placed on the furthest corners, so you get the impression that this car will have high-stability.”
