The Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S have long been some of the quickest cars on the market and it’s no different with the 992-generation models, unveiled in the wake of the canceled Geneva Motor Show. Henry Catchpole recently had the opportunity to take an exclusive look at the new car.
Much like the 991-generation 911 Turbo S, the new car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine. However, this engine has been overhauled so it now churns out 641 hp, a full 69 hp more than the previous model. Torque sits at a meaty 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). Like always, power is sent through all four wheels courtesy of a PDK eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Few cars got off the line as quickly as the previous 911 Turbo S and with this new one, Porsche is quoting a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.7 seconds and 0-120 mph (193 km/h) in 8.9 seconds. Both of these figures, especially the 0-62 mph time, are thought to be rather conservative. The new Turbo S will keep on accelerating through to 205 mph (330 km/h).

Aiding in the potency of the car is the fact that the all-wheel drive system features limited-slip differentials both in the center and at the rear. The car also comes standard with rear-wheel steering.
As Catchpole mentions, the new car produces 15 per cent more downforce than the outgoing model, resulting in a total of 100 kg (220 lbs) downforce at 205 mph (330 km/h).
Visually, the new car is as subtle as ever, meaning owners will be able to sneak by in traffic without turning too many heads all while being able to out-accelerate virtually everything else on the road.
